Individual confesses to sexual offenses targeting young males at youth camp
A man who spiked sweets with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in the region has confessed to sexual crimes against two children both nine and ten years old.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated the man went on to play the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.
She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
